The Leopard is one of five big cats in the genus Panthera and is a member of the family Felidae. They range in regions such as Africa, Asia and the Middle East and have short legs, a long body and large skull. The Leopard is similar in appearance to the Jaguar but is smaller and more lightly built. Its success in the wild is due to its well camouflaged fur, its opportunistic hunting behavior, broad diet and strength to move heavy carcasses into trees. Leopards can also run at speeds of 36 mph.
